Hey friends,
I am back with another recipe.
My nephew likes pizza and cheese a little too much. But too much maida isn’t advisable right? And as a south Indian, Dosa is a regular in our household. I just clubbed both of these recipes and had a winner and a very happy 5 year old. Since then, I have made this dish a lot of times for even my parents have started liking the Italian twist to the desi Dosa.
Let’s get started, shall we?
Ingredients:
1 medium sized onion finely chopped.
1 medium sized tomato finely chopped
2 tablespoons of finely chopped bell peppers. ( I had used red. But you can use yellow or green too)
1 tablespoon chilli flakes
1 teaspoon crushed pepper
1 teaspoon mixed herbs
A pinch of peri peri masala (optional)
Salt to taste
Butter
Cheese
(Note : I had sauteed the onions, tomatoes and bell peppers but it’s completely optional. Also this dish should be cooked on low flame only until the base of the dosa becomes nice golden and slightly crisp. You can also use any other veggies as toppings)
Procedure:
- In a pan add 1 tablespoon of butter. You can use oil too but butter tastes better. Sauté the onions tomatoes and bell peppers for about two minutes adding salt, crushed pepper and chilli flakes. Switch off the flame and add mixed herbs.Heat a Dosa tawa, pour one ladle full of Dosa /idli batter. Don’t spread it. Pour a spoonful of melted butter around it. Let it cook for a minute or two on low flame. Add the sauteed vegetables on top of the dosa and press it like how we do while making uthappam. Add grated cheese on top of it. Cover and cook on low flame till the cheese melts and the base is nice golden color. Add another a spoonful of butter around the dosa if needed. Sprinkle mixed herbs and serve hot with tomato sauce.
My family really enjoys the recipe. It’s very easy to make and tasty too. I had used less cheese for my parents but you can use it to your heart’s content. Do try it and share your feedback.
Happy eating.
